Tell Congress to #ProtectTransTroops
The fate of thousands of transgender service members hangs in the balance now that the Department of Defense is implementing the Trump-Pence transgender military ban. The ban is illegal and immoral, and it is already harming service members, those ready and able to serve, and our military.
While we keep fighting the ban in court, we also need to fight in Congress.
The National Defense Authorization Act passed by the House includes an amendment, the “Harry Truman Amendment,” introduced by Rep. Jackie Speier, that would allow any qualified individual, including transgender people, to serve in the U.S. military. Contact your U.S. Senators and Representatives and ask them to support the Truman Amendment in the NDAA.
In addition to the Truman Amendment, Senators Gillibrand and Collins and Representatives Speier and Katko have introduced legislation to stop the Trump-Pence administration’s attack against dedicated, qualified transgender service members who seek only to serve on the same terms as others. The House has already passed the bill with bipartisan support, but we need our Senators to take action.
To make sure these bills pass, we need your help. Use the form below to ask your members of Congress to protect trans troops.
