STOP THE TRUMP-PENCE TRANSGENDER MILITARY BAN
People across the country agree, anyone who is qualified and willing to serve should be able to do so openly. Contact Congress and tell them to protect transgender troops.
For more than 40 years, the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) have been moving the needle on LGBTQ equality.
These courageous individuals, both named and anonymous, are standing up on behalf of their community and will make a difference for generations to come.
March 26, 2019 – Statement from NCLR and GLAD on D.C. Court of Appeals order granting the government’s motion to dissolve the injunction in Doe v. Trump
Washington, D.C.— We are concerned by the serious harms that the imminent enforcement of the ban is already causing, both to the military and to transgender service members, many of whom are now scrambling to come out and initiate a gender transition before the April 12 deadline in order to be included in the so-called “grandfather” provision.
If you have been or could be affected by the transgender military ban, we’d like to hear from you.
We filed Doe v. Trump on August 9, 2017 – the first lawsuit to challenge the ban, and the first to win a nationwide preliminary injunction against it.
