STOP THE TRUMP-PENCE TRANSGENDER MILITARY BAN
People across the country agree, anyone who is qualified and willing to serve should be able to do so openly. Contact Congress and tell them to protect transgender troops.
As GLAD and NCLR continue to fight Trump’s baseless and immoral transgender military ban in court, we are joining with the Trans People of Color Coalition (TPOCC) and SPART*A this Veterans Month to highlight the stories of transgender veterans and service members of color.
For more than 40 years, the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) have been moving the needle on LGBTQ equality.
These courageous individuals, both named and anonymous, are standing up on behalf of their community and will make a difference for generations to come.
March 18, 2020 – NAVAL OFFICER FILES NEW CHALLENGE TO TRUMP’S TRANSGENDER MILITARY BAN
An officer in the U.S. Navy who has served two extended tours of duty over nine years and is now facing involuntary discharge because she is transgender, has filed suit challenging the transgender military ban. The case, Doe v. Esper, is the first challenge to the ban since it went into effect in April 2019.
If you have been or could be affected by the transgender military ban, we’d like to hear from you.
We filed Doe v. Trump on August 9, 2017 – the first lawsuit to challenge the ban, and the first to win a nationwide preliminary injunction against it.
